Garrett ACE 250 & 150

Re: Garrett ACE 250 & 150

As far as I know, the machine should have the exact same depth capabilites. The ACE150 and 250 are the same basic machine, with the ACE250 offering more bells and whistles such as pinpointing and more modes and more segments on the depth indicator. But both machines feature a max depth indicator of 8"+. I would email Garrett to be sure, but they are the same basic detector, same stock coil and everything.

Thanks, I was wondering because the prices are so close.

Do you own one of these models?

I buy lots of metal detectors and I recently acquired a Garrett Ace 150 as a FREE offer.
Cool, does that mean a name change to F2D2? hehe
No, on second thought sounds too much like a robot I saw at the theater back in the 70's.(R2D2) ;D
Congrats on the free detector as I've been thinking of the 150/250 for the 1/2.

Re: Garrett ACE 250 & 150

Na, think I'll stay with minelabex1000. My next order will bring me a Minelab Explorer 2 so best not switch.

I must admit that I LUV my Minelab Excalibur...but that sucker is heavy! I was thinking of the 250 as a lighter machine to take with me when I travel. It folds down and I could carry it in a suitcase with no problem.

So, I ended up with the 150. I was wondering if I should sell it and add some dough and buy the 250? But, if the basic depth is the same, maybe I should just keep it. I don't want to open its box unless I plan to keep it.

Anybody out there know if it would be worth $75 (or so) to upgrade to the $250?

Re: Garrett ACE 250 & 150

I do own an ACE250, but must admit I have only had it out once. I think the ACE150 would be fine as a good lightweight backup machine. The ACE250 just has a few more bells and whistles, but once you get familiar with it, the differences really won't matter much, right? I am happy so far with the 250 though, it's a nice upgrade from my BH Pioneer 101. Good luck, hope this has helped!

Re: Garrett ACE 250 & 150

Unless it (the 150) has a pinpointer.. I would get the 250.. it's worth every penny of the extra money.. it helps you find your target so fast!

Re: Garrett ACE 250 & 150

Thanks treasure lady. Hey, I miss seeing your face on the left hand screen! You have such a friendly look.

I probably will move up to the 250. I need a decent backup detector and one for pack & go.

Keep making those great finds!

Hey too, how can I talk my wife into liking THing?

Re: Garrett ACE 250 & 150

Just to let you know minelabex, I just got in a couple of 250's and an Ace 150. The depth readout on the 150 only goes to 6+". Take care and God Bless.

Thanks much.

I decided to sell my 150 on ebay. I posted it for $119 BUY-IT-NOW and it sold in less than 2 hours.

However, I may have messed-up BIG TIME. I posted this item quickly and didn't see that my selling setting was set to worldwide. I ended up getting a buyer from somewhere in the UK who has plenty of negative feedback. Oh boy!

This guy isn't waiting for me to let him know the shipping cost, he has decided to guess it on his own and send me payment! Oh boy!

I always knew I wouldn't keep my 100% positive feedback? :-\

Re: Garrett ACE 250 & 150

Sorry to hear that minelabex1000, at the very least hope he pays in U.S. not Pounds. otherwise you'll have to spend time getting it converted. Did you at least set up escrow?

Re: Garrett ACE 250 & 150

No escrow. The guy seems to want to pay. He's just in a big hurry to get me to agree to a low postage price. My guess is, the postage will be about twice or three times what he's suggesting.

Anyway, I'll check with the post office tomorrow. If he doesn't pay the full postage, he doesn't get the detector, and I'll end up with my first negative. Oh well, no real biggie...I hope.

The moral of the story is, BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU POST SOMETHING ON EBAY!

But then, it may work out. We'll see.

Re: Garrett ACE 250 & 150

Well, good luck. I agree with you though, he figures that if you are selling so low and quick that you'll agree to any offer he makes. Maybe you can send it by boat-cut the costs. ;D HH

Re: Garrett ACE 250 & 150

Well, I'm not going to give it to him. Ebay is always a risky selling format. Especially when one sells "worldwide."

Most people are honest but there are lots of cons out there.

I was going to post this detector on our local store "For Sale" board and I should have done that.
