......I like both of these....and have been looking at them for a few years or so........the 1350 looks good due to the Target Sizing........a lot of gold rings could be found this way.........the Scorpion reminds me of the old HoundHog and in fact uses the same frequency as the Groundhog.....but it is updated.......I think that it is real sensitive to ring finding due to the 15 KHZ........I would appreciate any comments from users of anyone or both of these detectors......THANKS......JOE

Go with the stinger higher frequency should be a bit more sensitve to gold in theory.

That target sizing on the 1350 isn't all it is cracked up to be. Oh it will help you tell the different sizes of the target, but that means rings will be the same sizes as all those pennies. The Stinger would be the better buy.

Having used both detectors extensively, I must say it is a tough choice. The 1350 with its profiling actually increases your good finds to junk finds ratio. It also has a tid plus some audio to help with conductivity of targets. It is easier to change batteries and has a backup light.

On the other hand, the Scorpion missing some of the bells and whistles, has a strong attraction to gold. It bangs very hard to gold, possibly to its frequency. It also bangs hard on all circular objects like rings, washers and round beaver tail pull tabs. The scorpion also has a true all metal mode with and modulated audio.

The cost is about $50.00 more for the GTP 1350, not much. Both will use rechargeable batteries..... 3 x 9volt or 8 x "AA"s. You did mention gold, so I might just suggest that in your case the Scorpion might be right for you. If you do get one, and have trouble using it, please ask on the forum for some help. A properly tuned Scorpion is much better then one not tuned up.

Good luck with whatever you get.

John
