This was found doing some yard work.
Its about 6-7 inches long and about 2 inches wide

Beautiful in its own sorta way .. whatever it is! Is it a rock?

Not sure if its a rock or a fossil.
It looks like layers of dirt have been packed down in it.

To me it looks like sandstone that was from somewhere that had geo thermal activity pushing hot mineralized water into the open cracks, after it cooled the minerals were left behind to form all the veins of crystallized material.VERY COOL SPECIMEN.definitely a keeper to display.

Is there anything inside or under the dirt?

Probably not.Don't crush.A geologist could figure out what to use to remove the sandstone and just leave the veins and that could be a magnificent specimen.
