Garage sales were pretty slim pickings, so I stopped by the monthly flea market on Friday and Saturday and found some surprises...

I'm collecting old woodworking tools and was looking for large boring twist bits with those wooden "T" handles. I found this oddity "T" handle made to change out different sizes and lengths of those long and large diameter boring bits. Even though it's an unknown manufacturer, this handle is unique because it has a ratchet assembly. Plus, the one wooden handle that unscrews from the end is made so it freely spins on itself. It can be reattached over the ratchet assembly so one can push vertically while using the ratchet action and the other wooden handle for large holes needed in a confined space... $35. .
Then, found a brand new, antique, in it's original box, Stanley No.78 rabbet plane, made in Sheffield England. Hand written in the old hardware store's black grease pencil, it's marked "$12.95"... Paid $30.
.
$5 for an old wooden handle "Stillson" 10" pipe wrench.
.
Found 25 grams of stamped Sterling silver jewelry for $15, in silver worth $14.25.... Then, for $1, found an odd-shaped silver baby spoon stamped 800, weighs 20.5 grams and worth $10.12. Tough thing is that one large jewelry piece is a 1930's large floral design Sterling broach pin and the unique shaped baby spoon may both be too pretty to sell for scrap....

Diggummup,

Thank you for the link! It was an identical match and helped me see what I found. I want to make an arched shaped layout on my workshop wall using various styles and sizes of these old "T" handle auger bits. This one will make it a little more unique.

What is a shame is that with all that machine work used to design and manufacture it, the maker didn't put his company name on it. I suppose if it had a stamped name, it would have been sold long before I found it. I'm left wondering if there was no name/company stamp anywhere on it, that it may have come as a boxed set with the company logo on the old original wooden box?

Thanks again for your I.D. help!
Bill

Excwllent day! I cant believe people let tools go so cheap. I'd never sell one of my tools because you always need them. I wonder if people are doing less work these days that requires having tools around.

The key to selling those big brooches is to polish them up and price them high. You'll see lots of them online and in shops priced very low. If you price it high and describe it as a Vintage American Sterling Silver Heavy Floral Brooch X grams, you'll have a good chance of snagging a non - us buyer.
