That first letter I believe is an R and not an A. There is a society with the initials RSSA that has been around since 1908 and has to do with science including astronomy and other disciplines. Here is a link to their site. I have no clue what your find was used for or represents, but this may be a clue for you in your research.

I believe your right about the first letter being an "R" but I don't think the link you provided has anything to do with this piece. I don't know what it is myself but i'm working on it. It could be "ROA" with the s above and below the "O". Did you notice the two crossed "skeleton keys"? The nimbers 1-26 obviuosly represent something as do the holes that correspond with them. Now to figure out what. :-\

You might check into researching "Radio Orphan Annie". I think it's part of a decoder used during the radio broadcast commercials of Ovaltine. 26 is the # of letters in the alphabet. There's probably a 2nd disc underneath that has the letters.

Say, 21 Bravo---
Just a suggestion. If you tag that item with a cardboard / string pricetag and write that info on it, then you and anyone else who looks at your relic collection will know what it is at first look. That Little Orphan Annie piece is unique, even if it isn't complete.

It doesn't look like the one Ralphie used, though. ;D ;D ;D
