Gambler's Dice!!! Got to be one of my favorite finds ever!!! Plus more sifted items..

Found one of the coolest (In my own personal opinion!) things I have ever found! Appears to be a 10 sided gambling die. If you look close, you can see a "grain" to the material, I can't tell if it is bone, or something else, but it looks like some kind of organic material, it's really hard to say... but I just can't stop playing with it... I've been carrying it around in my pocket all day long lol! I also found a cool clay pipe, (my first) and a bottle that says : "Dr. Pierce's Favorite Prescription" on the frount and on the sides it says : " R.V. Pierce, M.D." and the other side : "Buffalo N.Y." The embossing is very light, but still a cool bottle i.m.o. Also found a nice agate arrow point later in the day. Was a great day today! Thanks for looking!!! 2013-06-09 18.42.05.jpg2013-06-09 18.43.46.jpg2013-06-09 18.43.56.jpg2013-06-09 18.44.35.jpg2013-06-09 18.44.51.jpg2013-06-09 18.42.22.jpg2013-06-09 18.42.40.jpg2013-06-09 18.42.52.jpg2013-06-09 18.43.20.jpg2013-06-09 18.45.15.jpg2013-06-09 18.45.26.jpg2013-06-09 18.45.35.jpg (I think this is a watch fob?)--->2013-06-09 18.45.55.jpg2013-06-09 18.43.06.jpg

Wow! You really found some great stuff there! I see the dice and instantly I think about James Garner as Maverick! :icon_thumleft:

That dice is the coolest thing I've seen all day. Awesome sifting!

Love the fob, I found two last week.

Thats a nice pipe you found some cool stuff.

The die, the pipe, the toothbrush--it's all fantastic! So, the thing you found is a railroad baggage tag, not a watch fob. They are very collectible, with some examples worth up to several hundred dollars.

Great finds! What year is that St. Patrick Day tag from?

Boy did you have a good day !!!!! :headbang: through the years,we have found a couple of bone dice,in the common square shape, yours is sweeeeeet !!! whether its bone or not. What a great assortment of items, can't wait to here if the St Patricks Day March tag is a Railroad tag or not

Not sure... the "newest" thing I have found in this pit or dump was dated 1909. I have often found things dated earlier, like an 1893 o dime, and some other stuff with dates from 1880-1870, but it seems alot of it is from around the late 1890s-1909. The tag has no date other than march 17th, wich is St. Patrick's day lol. St. Patrick's day is a big deal here in Butte. I usually try to be out of town on that day....it can get pretty crazy!! LOL!!

Thanks for the info. It seems weird to me that a baggage tag would only have "St. Patricks Day march 17" on it, but then I dont know much about railroad baggage tags....

IAMZIM, it is a consensus of most of the reply's that you've got yourself one fine bunch of finds there and I concur with that!

I did a quick web search on the bottle and it is likely from the early 1900's and that goes right along with the other items and dates you've come up with. The bottle prices out between $10 to $50. Seems it was a treatment for melancholy ladies or supposed to be a treatment. Best of luck with you continued search......................63bkpkr

Wow! I did't know they played Dungeons & Dragons that long ago! :tongue3:

Really nice stuff there. Every clay pipe I've ever found has been broken.

Crazy isnt the word for it....unless you like to fight, its a great place to not be!! :laughing7:One of the largest St.Patties Day parties in the world....if not the largest

The "St. Patrick's Day March" baggage tag thing may have been like a coat check voucher, number 17, as opposed to March 17th.
Great finds!
