civilian-clothing: womens' button-up sweaters

Found this funky button today. I was wondering what type of clothing it would have been worn on and what its age is.

EF guilded button large front.webpEF guilded button large.webp
Thanks for helps!

Definitely a civilian-clothing (not military) button. I've personally seen that particular form ("backless" thin stamped sheetbrass button, with two holes going all the way through it for sewing onto the clothing) on womens' button-up sweaters. The "ornate" ones (like yours) date from the late-1800s through the 20th-Century, and are still being manufactured today.

The site has produced coins to 1895 before so it could be that old possibly right? Also its size is one point one twenty-five inches across, this interesting much?
