This was a garage sale find. It is some kind of funky artwork---Could this be what is called "Eames Era" or modernist art?
I can't find anything out about the artist....The name is " C. Marie" and the artwork is numbered 95/500. There is a label on the back that tells of where the artist went to school. The art is in a small metal frame( 6 3/4" x 6 3/4").
I am going to put it on eBay and see what it brings.
If anyone knows what to call this artwork or anything about the artist, please let me know! Thanks for looking~~~

I wouldn't call it eames era, possibly modernist.

What I really want to know is, does anyone else see what I am seeing in this picture?

Those are some dirty triangles, and I'm not talking about the small stain on the picture.

You should have no problem selling this picture.

here's a title I would use.
Mod Retro Modernist Abstract 70s Wall Hanging Art Decor
I believe it covers all the bases..LOL

I see green boobs with a rockets between them. The M shaped green at the bottom reminds me of looking over a woman's shoulder at her thighs from a sitting position. Actually there are very few triangles in there.

I can't see anything 'dirty' (except for the green boobies, I guess :dontknow: ). I do wonder what the artist was trying to portray----it looks like some kinda weird spacey 60's stuff to me. I googled the "New School of New York City" that this artist went to and the stuff they teach is so called 'avant-garde' and 'leftist American intellectual thought' ::) ;D .
Thanks for the help famous turtle treasures!

;D The whole 'green boobs' thing makes me laugh. I don't think I'll put that in the description for eBay though, they might pull the listing :tongue3: .
Thanks batcap!

I can't believe I responded to a post started by a lady the way I did. Chalk up one more for Batcap putting his foot in his mouth.

Leaving any innuendo in the dust . . . Do you see the 3 orange rockets? Do you see how the green at the bottom looks like what *anyone* might see looking down at the top of their thighs from a sitting position? It probably has nothing to do with the artist's vision. We all perceive 'art' as shaded by our hopes, expectations, desires, fears etc. I like it, but I don't buy art for enjoyment.

I wasn't offended by your comments, batcap, so no worries :hello: .
I can't see the 'thighs from a sitting position' that you see. I see strange tree shaped people with silly smiles on their faces :laughing7: . I guess everyone does perceive art in different ways.
Thank you for the comments and help!

I'm sure you've already done so, but I googled C. Marie. It's apparent that if you've either been given that name by your parents or taken it for yourself . . . You Will Be An Artist.
Of all the C. Maries, yours is my favorite.
