Went to hunt a house, that had promise. 2 story late 1800s. So we get there and all that rang up with gutter parts. I for the life of me can't figure out why there were so many gutter parts there. These were all modern gutter parts, the house had no gutters, nor new roofing on it. There is so much junk there it made hunting it impossible. Every nice high tone was...guttering.

Perhaps the owners had a gutter business? Keep at it there is bound to be some keepers hiding among the trash! :icon_thumleft:

Makes sense to me. I once worked a plumbers old house that burned down. I must have dug 100 elbows and such. It was great for the copper scrap bucket but not good for old coins with only a few wheats and no silver.

I hunted a spot where there was an old farmhouse once and it was loaded with pieces of white aluminum siding scraps. The house didn't have aluminum siding, it was wood. I can't figure out where this stuff came from but it pretty much shut me down. Gary

I’m digging a permission currently that must have every square nail ever made buried there, they sound good so you have to dig them. Keep pluggin’ Away, you’ll hit the good stuff soon.

Look at it this way, if it was frustrating for you it would be just as frustrating or worse for anyone else that would have tried that spot before you. So if you look at it that way, all of those gutter pieces actually helped keep others away and if you keep at it (especially since you have a nox) you should be able to reap the rewards that everyone else left behind because they gave up.

Did they have aluminum soffit or facia? I had that done a few years ago and have bits of shaved metal all over the place.

What size coil were you using in this spot? If I may suggest using a small coil if you have one and this might help to pull some good targets from amongst the junk. Best of luck to you and keep at it.

was it gutter or clipped pieces of old aluminum siding - i have had spots like that

It was def gutter pieces. The nail and sleeves were still there. I will definitely go back and hunt it again, and hopefully I will start getting some of the junk cleared out. Eventually I should get the yard cleaned up.

As soon as I started hearing all the chatter, I switched to my 6 in coil. This yard is so trashy, I put my pointer down and is started beeping. So I moved it, and it started beeping again. The small coil helped, but my machine would just chirp and chirp while I was digging the item out.

It's a long drawn out process but as you go over and over it, collect all that trash. Every time you go thru there you'll be cleaning it up for your next trip thru. I know people want to cherry pic, but if want to find it, help yourself out by removing some of the confusion.
