Detector(s) used
Explorer XS/II & Garrett ACE 250
Figured out after almost a year of detecting that it was time for an upgrade. I love my ACE 250 but I know I'm walking over stuff. So I tried to do the best I could with my money and find a good deal. Got a call from dad telling me UPS delivered the package a few minutes ago.........wish I could break out of work but I'm stuck here for the next two hours. It's an Explorer XS that I got from Ebay at $471.00. The owners says he put about two hours into it before he realized he just didn't have the time for it. He purchased an expensive log splitting machine and needed the extra dough. I really can't dish out a grand for a brand new SE or similar and I think this should do the trick. Auction in link below. I'll throw some pics of the detector up when I get home. Larry, now I have my own "Beast" buddy!

Took some photos last night of the Explorer. I'm happy with the buy, just have to go out there and try it out. I also snapped a pic of my other two detectors and my gear. I'll be selling the BH 2200 soon.

Re: From the 250 to Explorer XS

Congrats, Ricardo-I'm considering one of those after I figure out all of th-e ins and outs of the 250. Can't wait for you to show us what you can do with that bad boy ;)

Re: From the 250 to Explorer XS

I don't think you'll regret your decision. Last month I upgraded from my whites prizm III to an explorer se and have been thrilled with the results. My average depth of find has gotten deeper and my silver count has gone up :D
That being said, it did take me a few outings before the tones really started to click with me and switching from a concentric to dd coil made pinpointing a bit of a trick at first.

Agreed, At first it is going to get some getting used to. However, results will come your way shortly! Nice buy!

Way to go!!! I had been watching for a good deal for you but couldn't find one.

The ONE piece of advice, being a newbe to the machine, I can give you is forget everything you have learned about your other machines and focus on what THIS machine is telling you. The sounds will throw you off but you will get a hang of them, the graph is different from anything I have used but after two hours of actually using the machine it seems like old hat to me. I am by no means an expert but I am getting better.
I don't use the graph so much as I do the tones. I ran the machine over silver quarters, halves, dollars, wheat pennies, copper pennies zinc pennies, pull tabs etc for about an hour one night with my eyes closed just to learn the sounds better. I think this has helped me a lot.

I am happy for you I think you will love the machine. ;D The only sad thing is I know you will be posting pictures of a lot more of those funny looking dimes soon, and I still haven't found my first one. :(
How much for the 2200? ??? ??? ??? ??? I don't think 4 detectors are enough and I want more of them, and oh yeah zipper pulls!! ;D
