Fall is coming to the Rockies. I went from Ouray Colorado to Creede over Slumgullion pass over 11'000 ft. It was chilly up in the high country and the trees are begining to change. In a few weeks the mountains will be bursting in colors and it will be time for new tires on my truck, I better not slack on that, done slacked on that this time that last year ain't no fun slippin & slidin.... I made it to Red River New Mexico for tonight. I looks its going to be cold here tonight. Thats good! I sleep very much better when its cold.

You got some really good pictures of a beautiful area!

Thanks! Woodcraft. I like all of yours. You get out this way take the Slumgullion. I saw a big truck heading up it as I took some of these pic's today. I think he was an England truck. Red Freightliner for sure.

I always like that drive on 550 south out of Ouray, but I definitely wouldn't want to try that one in winter! We had a little snow up above 10,000 here this mornin. Good pics!

Been over the 550 from Ouray to Silverton a few times in the winter "The famous Red Mountain Pass". Its not all to bad, that powdery snow is kinda like driving in fluffy dirt. Its the $hit on I80 in Wyoming that puts me on edge. 250 miles going 45-50mph of this. That swirling snow on the road will hynotize you. I've seen many of ditchings on that road in the winter and the towns to call it a day are far and few between. I'll be on I80 a few times this winter as they started sinking a shaft out by Little America west of Green River out in the middle of nowhere. Not a tree for as far as the eye can see out at that job site.
