Dug these up a couple of weekends ago, didn't have my camera with me (had to sneak out to go hunting and didn't get all my gear)(yeah, I got in trouble when I got back home :hello2: ) or I would have posted a hand shot from the field using the upturned dirt as a backdrop. Those shots are nice to get after you find one digging as its kinda hard to get in-situs when your digging because they usually just pop out and well...I usually lunge for them :icon_scratch: . The point far left looks whole in the picture but its broken, next to it a fat adena knife (not too pretty) then the stemmed adena?(not too sure about that one), then a broken something (looks archaic to me) The pyramidal flint on top is very smooth and feels water worn, but this site is on a very high hilltop , shaman stone ? wishful thinking? Maybe I should start carry it around in my pocket for good luck, take it with me and go buy some cash explosion lottery tickets. BTW Anyone have anything they think might be shaman stones?

I know all about sneaking out to hunt. I am like a bad alcoholic when it comes to hunting sometimes. I told my wife I was going down the street to get my oil changed, and she didn't see me for 6 hours...... I always forget my phone but have my camera. :laughing7:... LOL. My poor women... Not to mention the mud I drag in.. :dontknow:.. You found some good ones... Thanks for putting them on.... John

Women? You poor fella ! :laughing7: Thanks for looking. Take it easy.

Nice finds SOHIO, and welcome aboard. I've found some gemstones and quartz crystals in a Mississippian midden. I showed them to a couple people and they both said they could be part of a shamans bag. Besides the quartz the other pieces are not natural to the area and I believe they were carried in or traded for. I'll get some pics of those up soon.

Pics of surface finds are undisturbed finds. I have the same problem when I dig. Its pop and grab! You said your sight is on top of a very high hill. I would do a test search the bank between the hill and a water source. Nice artifacts. Thanks

hey SOHIO, the pyramid looking thing looks alot like "cruciforms" we have over here, i have yet to find one, or even a piece. I have seen some in collections and in a museum once. If you have a overstreet book look at the SW area, and look up cruciform. dunno, its possible

I am ready to sneak a hunt in myself. Nice finds I would be curious about the pyramid stone as well.
