My user name is AtomicDog. Atomic is for my home town of Oak Ridge, nicknamed The Atomic City because of the Manhattan Project, and is also where i work. Dog is the last part of my amateur radio call sign, KI4DOG. I'm new to "serious" detecting and have a great interest in finding anything that causes me to ponder how it got there and where it's been. There are a lot of lakes in the area so I bought the AT Pro. I figure most hunters are combing the shoreline, so I'll go a few feet further and check the water's edge. Most lakes were created when the dams were built and now cover what was once towns and homes. They also drop the lakes for winter giving even greater access to what lies beneath. I never see anyone else hunting so maybe there's a chance... I'm also an avid woodsman and hobby photographer (check out my website below). My day job is electronic instrumentation and controls for a national lab, so unfortunately it's only a matter of time before I take the AT Pro apart to "improve" it. I'm prior service Air Force and Army and my wife is a Navy Corpsman.

Welcome to the hobby. Better check the TVA laws before detecting the lake shores. There was a time when you could get a permit to detect TVA property, but I heard that they now say no detecting. I know a fellow that detects the lake shores and says that no one has every bothered him. I personally think it's a stupid law. You can do just about anything on TVA property but metal detect.
