This morning I went to a field that has produced a lot this spring. I had not looked it in 3 or 4 weeks. It is planted in cotton. It rained .3 inches at our house in town yesterday but the western part of the county got lots of rain so I was pretty excited when I left home. However, when I got to a dirt road close to the field I realized they had not gotten the rain that I hoped they had gotten. When I got to the field I could see that it had had a tremendous rain on it perhaps last week. There were tremendous washes all over it. Walking into the area of the field that is most productive I found footprints. My excitement disappeared. I tried to look in places where he had not looked as much and found 3 broken points. I finally decided to walk back to the other side of the field where my car was a leave. On the way back I found my first whole one. That got my adrenalin pumping again. The other person did not do a systematic search. Sometime he would go parallel to the rows sometime perpendicular to the rows. I made myself look as I would normally do whether I saw his footprints or not. I can only imagine what he found because I still found some very nice artifacts.
