From an 1812 site???

Looks like a badge to me which I found at a late 1700's trading post and was used by the americans and british during 1812. If I attempted to clean this what would be the best method?

Looks like iron... gonna be hard unless u know how to do electrolysis.. but even that may not work

I have had good luck putting small items like that in with a batch of pennies when I tumble them. Comes out real clean.
