These fragment came from a B-24 crash site south Italy. Eyewitnesses referr us that it was shot down from Axis fighter between 15 to 18 august 1943. 3 airmen kill in the crash. We have no idea about identity of victims and of aircraft. We find a plate with engine serial number. Someone can help us to identify aircraft and crew? Thanks.
Some idea about these fragments?

I believe there is a way to id the plane from the build number of the engine, but I would think it would take a lot of searching through archives. That particular engine type is definitely right for a B-24 though

The issue with the engine S/N is that that engine may not have been the one originally installed in the aircraft.
It is not in-comin to swap engines in an aircraft for maintenance reasons.
It is possible that it could be the original engine though.
