sadly I report at 4:45 am --- 10/13/2008 ----(robert) bob "frogfoot" weller passed on --- a true "original" man of the treasure coast -- one of the MEN who put the "treasure" in treasure coast --(his work and finds are the stuff of legend)--- he will be sorely missed by his family and freinds, but his work and knowledge lives on in the books he made and the knowledge he shared with others during his lifetime -- he was not stingy but rather giving of his time and knowledge -- it was thanks to his books many folks that were did not know the area could come to florida and "try their luck" at finding a spanish coin on the 1715 area beaches while on holiday.

I guess god decided to do a bit of treasure collecting today .

My condolences to his friends and family. He was a wealth of knowledge, and will be missed by all who knew him and those that did not, but read his great books.

I am sorry Ivan for the loss of your dear friend.

He will be greatly missed and greatly received.may he rest in peace.

id say he found the greatest treasure of all!

I sent Bob Weller an email years ago never thinking that he would answer. Surely a man as busy as he was wouldn't have time for this novice. Well I was wrong. Several great emails later, the unselfish Frogfoot earned my respect and honor by not only reading every email I sent him but by also giving careful thought to what I would say and the responses that he sent back.

What an amazing guy he was. I new to expect that his end was near from the things I had heard of his health but you always believe that there is one more day. He served his country well when he was needed and he served our hobby and his chosen profession as a great ambassador.

These words are spoken often in this situation but in my opinion, they clearly fit Bob. Simply said, "He was a good man." What more could someone want to be remembered for.

Just got back from the funeral home visitation for Bob Weller. Margaret seems to be holding up as well as can be expected. Here is a link that Ernie Richards posted - the obituary of Bob that was in the Palm Beach Post. He lived life to the fullest. How many of us can say the same?
