Went out Saturday with 2 friends to permission they have. Its a summer camp from the 1880s and still currently operating. Its many many acres, all which were originally colonial farmland. Early coins, to rings and lots of silver have been plucked out here over the years. Today was my chance and we started detecting about 5pm. after about 2 and a half hours I had only netted a couple wheats and clad with my friends picking up a few pieces of costume jewelry.
I made it to the athletic field and was getting a mid 60s signal and pulled out the silver colored ring. It rang up too low for silver but it has some weight to it. Im not sure sure what is made of. As the sun was setting pretty low I got a deep 75 and I pulled out a clump of dirt and saw the ring sticking out of the side. I called out Gold Ring! and my friends ran over. It was getting too dark to see it so we went back to the kitchen for some grab and too look it over. 10k with initials inside and im thinking 1919 class ring. We ate and went back out for some night detecting.
I made my way to the volleyball sand and started gridding it. After a few pieces of foil I got a really deep 90 signal. It was ringing up all directions. Using my pinpointer light i dug down about 9 Inches and scooped out the 1920 SLQ with lots of detail left. I ran over to the guys and they couldnt believe it came from the volleyball area. We wrapped up the night with each of us getting silver, the friends getting a ring and the other a sterling pin.
Thanks for looking!
