Friday's Finds
I went out with Lee and Larry today over at Heekin Park in Muncie. We focused on a different area of the park than normal and it paid off... for me at least... Coin signals were few and far between on this side of the park, even clad. This is the side of the park where the fireman hunted it every day in between fires for years and years since the station is in the middle of the park. About 20min into it I was coinless and finally got a good signal. About 5" down I pulled out a nice green 1916 wheatie.... so the area still had potential. Then I walked down, and walked back, as I was trying to grid out a small area, and about 5 feet from the wheat I got a little honey hole. I brought Larry over since he is still trying to gain confidence in his new Ace250 and he got the signal loud and clear. I dig the plug, and there at the bottom of the plug and stuck together I got 2 Indians!! 1867 on one and 1892 on the other! Lee was over there by then and just starting to hate me and I was rubbing it in his face, of course haha Then I got up, ran the coil over the hole again... hmm... another signal.... About 2 inches away I pulled out a nice 1878 Indian Head! All three detectors picked up these signals loud and clear. (Lee uses a Fisher 1266) Then we moved to another area of the park after a nice chat / water break and I got the back of a pocket watch, a junky ring, and another wheat. The last wheat was a 1942 and maybe 1/4" deep and came out really clean, so I think it was a fresh drop from some kid who took it from daddy.
5 old coins.... 6 clad coins... not a shabby ratio there!
The 1892 has a FULL LIBERTY.. but also some gunk stuck to the face.. it is also a nice brown, and the 1867 is brown as well with the same amount of gunk. The reverses are both green.
