I stopped at a bank that I have only been to twice before. I asked the teller if they had any halves and she said do you want halve wrappers. I said no I would like to purchase any loose or rolls of halves, fifty cent pieces. We went back over it one more time. LOL So then she said it's $10.00 a roll, and I said yes I know I'll take whatever you have. Then she said how much do you want, so I said do you have $600.00 in halves? She said yes and sent a teller to the vault to retreive them. I had to wait a while and I said that's odd that you have so many, usually you can't find many. The teller said well people cash them in when they don't want them any more. Then I asked so you have more if I want to come back and buy them right, and she said yes. I was driving to other banks to drop some of my other coin off and then became curious as to what might be in the rolls. So I started opening the rolls in the car and finding silver. I went thru all $600.00 and then took them to another bank and cashed them in. Then I drove back to the bank and the vault teller said we have $260 more and I said I'll buy them. I just finished searching the remaining rolls and I found several that had my bank account number on them. LOL
I found a total of: 22-40% silver halves and 4-1964 silver halves.
I also searched $700.00 in dimes and found: 6 silver Rosies 1956,1958, 2-1961D, 1963,1964D.
