Sorry for the delayed post but I have been out camping and had no way to post. Friday I had a chance to go to the scout camp and do the last swimming area. I spent 6.5 hours swing the CZ21 in the water and part of the beach. In some spots you have nice deep sand and in others a thin lager of sand covers the clay bottom. Digging coins out of the clay with a sand scoop is tricky at times. I have done this area twice before, but always with a short hunt time and so I went quickly and left the weak signals the hard scoops for later. Friday I took my time and went for all the mid and high tones and dug coins as deep as about 18 inches in the sandy bottom.
I managed to find 201 coins with a face value of $20.14, a really dead mag light, some tabs, some rope tensioners, stainless bolts, nuts and washers, square brass nuts, a sinker, a medic alert pendant with penicillin etched on the back, aluminum boat rivets, a 1951 wheatie, and a gold ring. There were a few of the camp large tent pegs on the beach from the tents and tarps used on the ends of the beach.
The ring is a relatively thin 14k wedding band. It is pretty and has a sentiment engraved inside. It weighs .14 Troy ounces or 4.2 grams. Hundreds of people use this swimming area each year from all over the country, so the chances of finding the owner is slim but I will put the word out and see if we get a claimant who knows what is written inside.
So that brings the September counts to 7 silver and 3 gold with lots of gas money, more pegs back to the camp and a nice gold ring. A good hunt on all counts. Thanks for looking and may your coil lead you to good things.
