Friday I went back to my neighbor's yard where I had found 3 Wheaties last month. I found $0.47 in change including a 1935 Wheatie and a 1906 Indian Head, my first Indian and oldest coin. This house was built in 1900, so I'm hoping for my first Barber silver next time.

Any recommendations on cleaning the Indian? I've soaked other pennies in olive oil for a month without much change.

I was using my new Excelerator 10x14 coil for my Ace 250. I like it so far, but I have trouble pinpointing. I've heard that when you pinpointed, the coin was under the "x" in Excelerator, but that doesn't seem to be the case for me. It also seems that it gives me a wide area when it pinpoints. Any ideas?

Nice coin. I would just leave it like it is.

I agree, leave it alone. I don't use water on mine, just a toothpick. Nice find & HH!

I agree. Leave it just like that. You should feel lucky. I found my first Indian a couple weeks ago and this is what it looks like. No cleaning on earth can save this one.

If you want to take a risk, I hear boiling hot hydrogen peroxide works pretty well on Indians.

I use to have the 10 by 14 and I pinpointed straight off the tip Center your target and pull straight back to the bars drop to nothing target should be right in front of the tip

Sweet Indian...I wouldn't clean it.

As far as the coil goes. Generally you won't be able to pinpoint as tightly with a larger coil. Though as you use this coil, you should get it tighter. Finding the center point may take some practice and maybe setting some targets on the surface and seeing where the center point is. Finding that will also help tighten your pinpointing. Luck.

Nice finds! Congrats on the Indian!

Put her in olive oil for a few weeks..Love the IH's,still my favorite coin to find..got an 1879 the other day,had her sitting on the coffee table in a paper-towel when I woke up the net day it was gone! Had a hunch the wife threw it out by mistake so i looked in the trash and there it was..lol
