friday hunt........ jewelry "honeyhole" !!!
Three of us hunted a 1920's home friday morning. 22 wheaties total, yet NO silver. I found 12, the oldest being a 1916. Also found a nice "midgetoy", and my oldest to date rabies dog tag, 1937 (tags are my favorite finds, and I don't even have a dog:-)
However, the find of the day was by one of my hunting partners. I know most of you have either heard of, or experienced a coin "honeyhole" but until yesterday, I'd never seen, nor heard of a jewelry honeyhole. The two crosses and the brooch all came out of the same hole. We feel they were purposely buried. The one is silver plated, and opens up. What would one put in a hollow cross?? Pill box perhaps?
We spoke to the owner of the home, and she gave us a lengthy history on the property. Seems two nuns lived there in years past. She even had the addresses of both of them. One is local, and we tried to contact her. She lives in a church convent.
My friend also found an old credit card. Neat find in my opinion. The name and address went with the house as well. We gave it to the owner, as she wanted to frame and hang it in the home.........
Happy IRISH day!
