I've only done it a few times and felt my standard relic program did fine.

That said, the beach I was on was not mineralized, as most fresh water beaches are not but I have heard they can be, a quick way to find out if is get into the wet sand and bump the coil, if it falses there's probably minerals, then you have to mess with the ground balance to get it to quite down a bit

Thinking more about it, some ground notch may help as well.

Good luck, hopefully theres no minerals to worry about.

Oh yeah, if you come across a lot of beer caps, that sound oh so good, cranking up the silencer to 4 will make them go away

Re the crown caps, the hf coil makes them sound even crappier, but silencer helps a lot regardless.

GAP Metal - Ted pretty much covered the bases on Deus setup for fresh water - Since it is your first time in the water with the deus, I recall you asked about the kit and the WS4 puck but don't recall if you got the kit or do it yourself mods necessary to make the Deus work in water. If you haven't already figured this out (my apologies if you know this already but may help others), basically, you need a coax antenna that runs from the coil up to above the water line to be able to have radio transmission between the coil and either the control box (in a water tight enclosure) or your WS4 headphones which are waterproof (for those that have them the WS5 over the ear headphones with built-in controller are only weather resistant and are not a good choice in knee deep or higher water where you can take a tumble and get them submerged). Have fun in the water!

Thanks vferrari
Ya i have the waterproof kit and have the headphone adapter coming for the WS4 puck,i will use the controller for now.
Do you have a fresh water program to share ?
Gary

Like Ted said, just use your favorite land program and adjust GB for the ground conditions and discrimination/reactivity as necessary to deal with iron/non ferrous trash. There is nothing really special about fresh water. Salt is a different animal.
