The frequency shifter will help if you are detecting with a buddy and the machines interfere with each other. They also can help with eliminating some outside electronic interference. The Garrett GTI 1500 , GTI 2500, GTP 1350 & Infinium allow the user to shift the operating frequencies to help with the smoother operations of the machines. There are after market frequency shifters available, which should do the exact same thing, to be used on their metal detectors, built without this option.
