I must have been insane going out in temperatures with a heat index of 110 but seeing these incredible relics surface made it all worthwhile. This is a group shot of my finds at my new Revolutionary War site. The last time a human hand held these objects was 235 years ago in 1781! Hard to fathom!!! Almost as soon as I turned on my Nautilus I found the brass kettle ear. This is the first of these I have ever found! Knowing that such a huge piece of brass was still in the ground made me realize this site had not been hunted on or if it had, it had not been done that good! The cuff 8 (from the Bearn regiment) appeared next. This was followed by the coat 8 not more than 15 feet away! Now I have found plenty of French cuff buttons over the years but only 8 coats. So finding this made my day!!! I didn't think it could get any better but I was wrong! Next to appear was a beautiful escutcheon wrist plate to a Brown Bess musket!!! Many times these are marked with regimental, company, & rack number. Though they were not all marked as this one was not. It did have an "IG" stamped on the inside. Again, this was the first escutcheon plate to a Brown Bess I had ever found! A tombac back to a blow hole 2 piece button, a sling buckle, another flat button, and several dropped musket balls rounded out my Rev War finds. Alos found but not pictured was an eagle button, several pieces of a Civil War shoulder epillaute, and a grommet. All I can say is what a day!!! I can't wait until the Fall gets here and the thick vegetation dies down. I'm positive I will be finding many more Rev War relics at this site! HH Devonrex

Another excellent bunch of finds-especially the buttons. Your posts never disappoint

Congrats on some killer finds!

WOW! That is a hunt to remember! Congrats on a bunch of great Rev War finds.

Nice assortment of finds. I imagine your excitement to get back when the vegetation and heat die back.

Thanks Ahab!!! These little gems are my favorite buttons to find! I realize most members of TreasureNet are mostly interested in coins. Those who live in the central states or out west don't have anything as old as this waiting to be found so they don't understand the extreme rarity and scarcity these relics represent. It amazes me that a post like this can only get 9 responses and a post with a handful of mercury dimes and Lincoln head pennies can get 50! Oh well............ it is what it is. I appreciate your nice reply. I'm hoping there might be a few more of these waiting at this site waiting for me to find them once the Fall gets here and the vegetation dies down. HH Devonrex

Post them in the new colonial sub forum that was just opened up under Artifacts. I can assure you everybody there will appreciate those. It may not get the traffic that Today's Finds gets but it's the colonial lovers that will see it

Congratulations on some awesome Revolutionary saves. I think the reason you don't get the responses you feel like you should is partly because this site has a lot of regular posters and it gets to be a little "clickish". You find the regulars post a lot on each others threads whether the finds are significant or not. Possibly another reason you don't get the response that your finds deserve is because you only post when you find things and come up with thread titles that can be a little braggartly. Don't get me wrong, you consistently have some of the most impressive Rev War and Colonial period finds but it wouldn't hurt to comment or commend others finds occasionally. I do believe you were correct in saying that most members don't understand the rarity of these finds therefor they don't comment.

Great stuff

I agree the buttons are awesome. I'd sweat all day to find a button like that

Thanks for sharing
