Buckley, Flintshire, North Wales.
Detector(s) used
Minelab X-Terra 505
Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
Not a good example of the coin, never the less I thought I'd post it just because of what it is, & where it was found...
In a newly ploughed field on the North Wales coast... a Louis XVI Copper Sol circa 1791. What the hell its doing in this part of the country I can't imagine. Its very badly worn so I've only submitted a photo of its "best" side (tongue in cheek for using the word "best"!).

They pop up the odd time around here. It is a little later than the Frenchies we would expect to find, but that's just detecting.

I was with Crusader once when he dug a V Nickel :o

I know nothing abouts these but I think I see 1772, if not a 7 then mabe 92 as I see the 2 clearly.

I think your right there Cru... apparently these were around in 1791/92.
Maybe I should have taken more notice of what little detail there is in my own photo!

Gotta love those French coins found in North Wales, I've been digging crappy zinc American pennies in well, America. I'm hoarding them until zinc shoots up to 14 cents a pound.
I have big plans.
1791, sheesh.
