Google "unclaimed property" followed by the name of your state. Type in your name and see if the government is holding some of your hard earned Sacagaweas.

When a company or bank owes you money but can't find you to pay it, the government holds it until you claim it.

If you find out you have money waiting for you, post about it here. Might be a couple cents but it might be thousands. Doesn't hurt to check.

I received some PMs from people who got some money. Guess they didn't want to share publicly.

Yeah, cause then I'd have everyone hittin' me up for a loan! :laughing7:
Actually, I "am" one of the folks who PM'd C_12. But the money belonged to my father, and I'm now in the process of working through the estate...or what there is left of it. Cancer (for him) and Alzheimer's (for her) have really taken their toll. Is going to be a long time before I get all this mess straightened out. ...Maybe if I ignore it long enough, it'll just go away. :laughing9:

I hope I didn't make you feel obligated to post about it. That wasn't my intent.

Years ago, I got a letter from someone who was offering to recover unclaimed money for me, that was in my name, for a fee of course...
I figured it to be a scam, but then I looked into it, and dang!....$900 was legit mine.
So, within a month or so, State of Florida sent me a check!

I wrote the person offering their help, thanked them for bringing to my attention, but I was now no longer in need of their "service":laughing7:

And KCM...what Sam said....you know, me too....

Hi; Back in 1988 I put 20K in an Investment Account with Prudential. I withdrew most of it so I thought and forgot about it. 4 years ago I followed the steps. 5 months later I found I had $16,731 coming to me but there was a $500 Closure Fee I owed Prudential. I paid it and got my check. It's all gone now on Medicals but I'm happy. Anyone else care to share. PEACE:RONB

*sigh* Ok Dave, I'll add you to the loan list along with Sam. :occasion14:

I thought of starting a website with a software program that would check every state once someone enters their info and all states they have lived in. Charge a small fee only if money was found. I think marketing it would be a challenge as most would think it's a scam.
