I found this yesterday, in the same area as I found a Ohio state medallion a few months ago. There are no marks on the back. I did a little research and found where i believed it came from (Covington Scottish Rite of Free Masonry) I located the building in Covington so I knocked on the door. This guy came out and i asked him of he had any idea what it was and he looked at it hand it back to me said nope. He went back in and locked the door behind him any ideas what it was.

Nice find! :icon_thumleft:

Maybe it was on a chain sort of like this ?

Here's a little Personals blurb from the 3/27/1915 Lexington Herald that might be about the event-

its part off a scottish rite masonic officers "jewels" chain * --the various masonic lodge officers wear certain "items" as badges of office during masonic meetings and rites .--your "item" clearly was once a part of one (similar to the ones shown above) -- masons are famous for being "closed mouthed" about things and activiltys related to being a mason --thus the "cold shoulder" you got when you asked what is this? (masons as a general rule are not to talk about masonic stuff to non masons) -- my father was a past master of the local lodge --and since you are mearly asking what is this item?-- I will honor you request and supply the basic info about it only.

within the masons there are 2 main groupings -- york rite and scottish rite -- your item is from the scottish rite sect.
