There is a reason why there was a free sign on them. Sadly they have very little value as a rule

I'll put a sign out at $1 each. Records aren't my thing, but hopefully someone will find some use for them.

Some of the "hillbilly" records bring decent money. Look for Charlie Poole, Gid Tanner & the Skillet Lickers, Riley Pucket, Uncle Dave Macon, etc. I know a
young man who takes 78s and loads them into his computer, cleans up all the popping & crackling and then burns them onto CDs. The CDs sound like a new fresh recording. He even takes mumbled words and pulls them out and replaces them with the word from somewhere else in the record.

Nice finds! :icon_thumleft:

Sometimes people put them in a picture frame as art! :occasion14:

As a record guy myself, I avoid these at all costs. I recently picked up a collection that had 2 dozen 78s included. Several of them have already broken while in my possession due to being extremely brittle from age alone. Not to mention, most are worthless, unfortunately.

Put the records in my booth and gave a guy a deal, $40 for the entire box. Not bad for free.

Can't beat profit on free stuff
