Was looking at a 2008 D penny. It’s not a valuable find, but it is interesting. Hear me out.

Closer. Look near the mint mark.



Okay, I just have one question, when did the Eye of Sauron from The Lord of the Rings get on a 2008 D penny?

I can see it without magnification. That’s freaky, but funny at the same time.

Just wanted to share this funny and freaky find.

of course it may be coincidence.

is it punched in like a Masonic / Lincoln Counter stamped cent


or burned or drawn on ?

I honestly can’t tell what it is or how it got there. It’s the size of the mint mark, so I doubt that someone drew or burned it on.

Regardless, I thought it was funny.

Wait, you don’t know anything about Lord of the Rings? Have you read the book or seen the movie?

If you haven’t, dude, you don’t know what you are missing! It’s a great book and great movie!

I see what looks like a double die on the 2 (or maybe just damage)

Here is a close-up of the eye and the two underneath my microscope. The two looks like post mint damage.

On the other hand, the eye, I have no idea how that got there.
