That’s another Great Basin basalt paleo spike, If I found about anyplace west of me. That is big ol blunt too.

It’s a chisel type tool...Blade edges are way below centerline, creating one flat face.

OK. Thank you

Here's where that diagnosis pulls up short on this end: Early Archaic lanceolates, at least here in the east (like Ohio Lanceolates) (not Late Archaic/Woodland lanceolates like Steubenvilles/Fox Creeks) were typically made on prismatic blades. With the result that one side is more domed (up & over) and the other side flatter. You see the same thing in flake-based points like Dovetails, Lost Lakes, &c. &c. There's some other stuff involved, but that's the main thing. Rounded nose surely does indicate it wasn't used at the business end of an atlatl. But most of the foregoing were knives also.

Not looking to argue with you over it -- heavy duty, post-oral-surgery pain meds are probably coloring the thought process. If so, my apology.

Effigy of a alligator snout and if confronted im changing to crocodile.
the one on top right is neat id say 1/4 spokeshave on one side and 5/16th on the other side.
All kidding aside very cool frame and H.P. u have some really nice pieces I enjoy and learn from

Big flakes struck off that blade. Makes me wonder what the material might be. Is that river stain or just an unusual Florida material?
