Hello,

This is my first post on this forum. I've tried to read the guidelines, I hope I'm posting in the right place/way!

I have a box of old coins and banknotes. The box is from Belgium. In it, there was a variety of 20th century coins from various countries, as well as four coins that looked like they could be older (photo attached).

One is so corroded it's hard to make out anything. Two are very similar, with Fleur de Lys on them. The last is the thickest and in the best condition. It has a hole in the top which makes it look like it might have been worn as a medallion. I'm suspicious of the good condition and thickness, so I wonder if it might be a replica.

Any coin experts able to shed any light? I tried an online automatic coin identifier but it gave nothing even close.

Many thanks!

Welcome. I think the first three are late medieval, probably genuine. The last one, I am not sure of. Someone who knows these better will chine in.

Great looking coin finds!
As AAC already mentioned, Cru's insight would definitely be an asset to you here.

If they were British - Yes. But NONE of them are.

I do know the top right one is a hammered silver from France circa 15-16th C.

And I think I've identified the second. Again I found it in a similar way, by finding a picture of a different, but similar coin, then looking up lists of coins from the same period/region/ruler.

I think this is the second coin, with the three Fleur de Lys on one side:
Les Double Gros de Tournai

Minted in Tournai, Belgium between 1422-1427.

Now the only mystery is the corroded coin, which I guess must be copper from the green tint?

The copper might be Liege, but I need better photos to say anything.
