On the way to Olive Garden, down Boncosky Road what appeared to be a German SH Pointer runningalongside cars darted out in front of an approaching truck. Dog was visibly excited, and looked to be trying to get a ride from the passing cars. I slowed and called him over and he sidled right up to the Lowbatts cruiser as I slowed to a stop mid-lanes on this two-lane road. That put a stop to the Sunday afternoon "country drive" bunch that zips up and down the road.
Sent Mrs. Lowbatts out to catch the dog, the dog didn't want to wait to get caught and tried jumping in when she opened the door. A fellow with a truck came up behind and asked if it was our dog, then others got out and wanted to know if the dog was hurt, can they call the animal hospital, help out, etc...
Dog was tagged, we presumed he was chipped, looked well-cared for but knowingly lost, so we left him in the hands of the truck guy who had his own labs with him and was a hunting dog kind of guy. Besides, we were on the way to food.
After driving up to the scene and seeing no one respond, it was funny how at least five drivers pulled over after we corraled the dog to see if they could help, once I blocked the road....
That's my good-dog-karma story for the day.
