How old is the suspender clip? Possible 4-H association?Whats that mean?

Another association with four leaf clovers is the Brownies or girl scouts or something along those lines. Other possibilities are a simple key chain medallion or even a dog tag. I've seen many shapes and designs. However, if it were a dog tag, the lettering would be visable and readable.....
Hope this helps.

HB,

The suspender clip is cool...many i have seen are very plain but yours is quite ornate. I'm feeling an art-deco time period (1920s/30s) from it but I truthfully have no definitive info one way or the other (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Art_Deco).

As for the 4H reference, here is a link to the organization...I was a member many years ago when I had hair! <smile> (http://www.4husa.org/).

Happy Hunting!

So you find a 4-leaf clover and say it didn't bring you luck?? That other thing looks better than a pull tab to me. ;D

I lost that suspender clip the last time I was down at your place. You can return it when I come back.

Will and I will give you a crash course on your new machine on our next hunt. Will is the man when it comes to the Fishers. He can tell you what it is before it ever hits the light of day. To me it just sounds like a beep! I guess Will can give the crash course.

Great find! I like recovering pieces like that just as much as coins.

The one I found last year is very similar and was marked 1837 if memory serves correctly. Funny that I found a good luck charm on that same day too. What a co-inky-dink.

I've found a number of four-leaf clover charms like this one at carnival sites. All were made of aluminum, and some had engraving— fairly plain and presumably done on the spot.

PBK the fair/carnival site founds were identical or similar?

Agree it's from fairgrounds/carnivals. PBK found several identical at such locations. As pointed out 4H or girlscout charms would have been marked/engraved.

I think green check mark on this one.

your 4 leaf clover could have come from a charm bracelet

I can verify that they were done"on the spot". In my younger years, I worked the 4-H concession stand at the county fair( we're talking mid 1970's here). Right across from us was a ring toss game that had these clovers as one of the easy prizes. When you won one, they'd engrave your name on it before they gave it to you. They weren't 4-H related, they were brought by the carnival although it would be popular item since most county fairs in Wisconsin have a 4-H element to them.

Great ID Fast_Dave :icon_thumright: and thanks everyone for getting it solved. The charm has puzzled me for years ;D

1970's fair prizes. PBK's were found on locations (some engraved), whereas the other 2 were carried home by proud prize winners (too bad they weren't engraved :D).

When I was a kid carnivals had jewelry booths that sold the clovers, hearts and other designs on a chain. You could get your name etched on them for a dollar. Tony
