While trying out my metal detector I found a medal in my yard. It is a Miraculous Medal with an american eagle and USA on it. On the back is a shield with a place for name and no. I have contacted everyone I could find to help me from the Catholic Church to the Army museum and even an article written in a local paper with no real answers except to say that it was unique. Can anyone help?

Sounds like a privately purchased item. Might be as early as WWI, but probably WWII or later. Fairly similar medals can still be purchased today for around $25-50. Often they combine not only the Miraculous Medal but a St. Christopher with patriotic symbols: eagles, shields, stars, flags, etc.
