some old rusty stuff from a cotton field dates back to the Revolutionary War. Others have been finding old coins, i find the old rusty stuff...lol. One coin pulled dated from the 1780's. I am trying to clean this stuff up using the electrolysis method, i think i need a stronger charger, using a 6 volt right now.

You don't want us to ID this, do you ::) If so, in my opinion, its iron stuff :D

I know it is iron, at least that is what the detector told me, but i am new to detecting and dig everything that makes a sound ::) so i am very sore and tired by the end of the day :-\

There is nothing wrong with digging iron. I clear plenty from the fields. Some say its the best strategy to get those good iffy signals that others miss. Many will tell you not to waste your time on iron, I would say the opposite. Keep at it, the more time you spent the better the results :thumbsup:
