Shocked the heck out of me to see this on top of the dirt after yesterday's rain. First glance looked like some kind of coin or button, didn't have my IPhone with me, so I just reach over to pick it up and saw the long stem. I could make out the words, but no clue to what it was. After cleaning it up & googled the name, then I realized what it was. It's a historical find for me, even if it's not worth anything.

Anyway to date it? I can't see anything on it. Based on the history of my property, it has to be from the 1870's-1930's.

I have little/no experience in dating them, thats why I asked, but my guess was going to be around 1900, so fits the house nicely.

I was watching the news you guys got soaked. Metals should light up/appear when ground is saturated...Keep digging nice reserch too.

I love those old hand saws,I have an 8 and 10 point from the 1800's,keep them in the truck at all times. They work way better than the new ones. Nice find.:icon_thumleft:
