found with metal detector, silver plate copper, what is it

someone will know what this is, I thought it was a part for a musical instrument, wife thinks it is mechanical but offers no help, lol. 2 pieces, dovetail connect, silver plated over copper (over zinc??) seems a little crude, not high polished, found in an old but not really old soccer field with metal detector, any guesses ?

The shape resembles a squirt gun trigger. I'm thinking it is some sort of plunger and that the little bump was either to hold a spring or to prevent it from being depressed too far.
The crudeness has me thinking it is just silver colored enamel over pot metal.
