I posted this in "What is it?" and the general concensus was a pestle of some sort. Found on a creek bank in Natchez, MS. Can anyone shed a little more light on it? I just recently started metal detecting and creek walking and this was my first (well, actually my 11 year old step daughter's) first find. ;D

Hard to tell from the photos, but it's not perfectly round. More of a square shape that has had the edges worn down over time.

Any info is appreciated.

IMO from the picture looks like a creek smoothed stone. Is there any type of a groove abraded onto it's surface?

Looks like a creek tumbled natural stone to me as well. But what do I know !! :dontknow:

It's definitely a solid stone. Probably nothing, but pretty cool looking. Found about a quarter mile downstream of the Natchez Grand Village on the bank of a stream that runs adjacent to the Village property.
