I think it's a fossilized dog turd.

I licked it and it tasted more like squirrel. Thanks tho.....

Notwithstanding all the other 'educated guesses' ;D ,with the exclusion of my sensible bro' AKiwi, of course, it looks to me that the thick end has been twisted, by 'whatever' means, in order for it to have that twirly pattern. It appears to have an iron pin through it.
It indicates to me a softish metal, maybe heated ? and being subjected to a reasonably strong twisting force.
The other side of the large end seems to be flat like it was laid against something :icon_scratch:
If my USA pennies aren't fake ::) it might be too small to be a window latch.
I do think it is a latch of some sort which someone wanted to open, but used more force than the metal could resist.
Or I could be talking out of a hole in my head.

Are you sure it wasn't some of that weasel left over from the dinner you missed with Mastereagle?

Looking at it closely it could be a very early zipper pull. Know anyone that would be interested?

I guess your correct. It's all very confusing. ???

trikikiwi~
Your analysis of the object is impressive. You are 100 percent on your description. You obviously have no holes in your head!

mpostma~
I like your idea of a zipper pull. It could be one of Mastereagle's turds from his meal of weasel because he was along with me when I found this. Hmmm :icon_scratch:

Thanks all......
