Been trying get some info on the tunnels under Nassau heard they where used by pirates and colonial soldiers when the island was raided, from where I’ve identified through stories and physicaly seeing the tunnels they run from fort charlotte, to under John watlings distillery , tunnel shaft entrance found in church across the street possible same shaft, tunnel continues under old slave hospital on hospital lane and cuts down under the US embassy to the Hilton where former fort Nassau once was, the tunnels leading to the fort charlotte indicates most definitely this tunnel went to old fort Nassau before it was burned to the ground by the Spanish, the tunnels run south over the hill its destination unknown. Eastward the tunnels run under gray cliff or the road towards the governors house, would have been ideal for resolving the governor with troops and access to defending forts, the tunnels then run in a direction unknown to me at this point but ends at the queens staircase most likely connecting to fort fincastle as well.old photo shows the old entrance still visible from a early 1900s photo. Shafts blocked off with cement by gov or covered from collapsing rock or simply hidden in basements of abandoned homes. Spoke with a construction buddy working on a old house adjacent to margarittaville and asked if there was a cellar his eyes widened and said “buiii that wybe is huge dusty af and oldd,” told him to toss me some old bottles if he found any old old junk he said, they had a cleaning job to clear the place, buildings 1700s date
