Ok sorry I'm suppossed to be sitting over there in the corner right now, but I kept squirming and I got bored, and got to thinking how I didn't respond to your post like I wanted to viking....first off love ya, I love everyone here your all supergreat people and I am just plain evil...but I had to respond to this and let you know that your wrong about me digging a shelter in the sense that your mentioning as if they lived in a shelter it rotted away and I dig that spot where the shelter was and whaddya know I'm diggin a shelter. You and I both know that, that shelter, and the ones still prominent today under rock faces etc. are not the same. First of all I only dig where there has been heavy machinery breaking up the earth and disturbing middens from surface to 3-4 feet already, rarely do I get into an area that is completely undisturbed when I come across a place like that I usually call a friend. Something some of you need to realize that arrowhead hunting isn't a sport. Now I know some of you from past posts and threads have mentioned your firm beliefs that eh most shelters have been pilfered long ago and there is no harm going through them again. Or hey its on my own land I have a right to dig that up. But what some don't think about is that there most certainly are shelters out there perfectly preserved and while the pilfered way outnumbers the undisturbed they still are out there and as responsible citizens and hobbiest and hunters we should treat them as the archeological sites they are and let them get dug by professionals recording data to add to the archeological record. That way they can make some cool new documentaries on discovery channel and we can all sit back and eat popcorn as we learn about ourselves.

Point is laws are different in all states, many states it is legal to dig on your own property. Members can not attack other members for doing what is legal.

I.alked hill tops, rock faces, farm fields, streams, creeks and rivers in Missouri for over 20 years recovering artifacts legally. Not every shelter or cave has burials and unless member is violating our rules and the law they can post with out being attacked for it.

Ok i dont see where i am attacking anyone over it, and yeah not every shelter or cave has a burial, of course not, but how do you know it wont have and that it wont contain valuable data that could really impact the study of the culture that was there and rewrite a little of the history of that culture. For example in my area were the adena and hopewells, there are still a lot of unanswered questions about these peoples.
