Found today on an old unexplored civil war fortification on private property

Strange metal square... 39.65mm x 39.86mm x 6.73mm and 114 grams. Not magnetic. Had some dirt and grim on it but after rinsing under the faucet it looks like this. No markings I can find even under my microscope. Thoughts?

If it's made of lead it could be a dress weight. But they usually have holes in the center.

Additionally, it looks like it has sand grains embedded here and there when viewed under microscope. So assume that means it was definitely cast?

There’s no way I can see to attach it to anything. Also, it has lines ground into it on both sides in the same direction

What machine are you using, the VID may lead (not always) you in a direction? Do you have silver/gold test kit?
