I went for a walk today just South of Wabasso beach. I didn't bring my detector thinking I'd just look around. Found a couple of pretty cool pieces. The wood has several square nail holes in it and what I think is a headrest for a chair is in pretty good shape. I'm just gonna tell myself they're from the Plate Fleet and be happy lol. Any idea how to preserve these before they dry rot and how to date the headpiece by style??? Just realized the design looks like a face...ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1476131665.995661.jpg

If oak, looks turn of the century. A lot of the furniture was made that way at that time.

Squared hole piece I'd say yes. Ornamental piece sorry but no but neat finds.

Nice to be out on the beach for the day, also good to find something interesting to bring back!

Hi; The square holes were made that way for the square nails they used back then. I think the piece is a piece if shipwreck wood. Nice finds. PEACE:RONB

Which century?

Because it looks absolutely no different than the ornamental, hand-carved designs they made in 1400, 1700 or 1900.

The carved design does look very interesting.
