Interesting find, never seen one, but I'm guessing that because of the beaded boarder on both sides that its not currency/coin but some type of token. I look forward to an ID.

The design on the pic on the left is called a 'tughra'. It's a calligraphic monogram of an Ottoman sultan that was affixed to all official documents, correspondence and coinage. Each sultan had his own tugra. The history of the tugra is also interesting and can easily be researched.

The date would be written in Arabic numerals on the reverse (right pic) under the writing.
Unfortunately, it appears to be too toasted to read but at least you have the Numista date range for this coin.
