found this interesting piece of history yesterday. I'd bevery happy if someone could help identifying what it is. It has a hinge where I put the arrow. Obviously there is something missing inside the round deal.....Thank's for help!

Might also possibly be a type of cap for a gas can or some other type of fuel

If the item isn't solid. I'm going to go against the grain and say it's a bobbin of some sort. The "screw hole" looks like a guide eye to me. The piece on the opposite side of the hinged hole that we can't see could be crucial to identifying it.

Oil filler cover for an antique engine? Apothecary weight cup lid. 17th Century. That's a cool find. I've seen the cups and weights posted on this forum. Never a lid that I can remember.

That looks close, but not convinced that is what it is.
