found this today in the woods. what is it?

Hey everyone! While metal detecting in the woods today i found this thing about a foot down in the ground. It appears to be something electrical in my opinion... But a google search turns up nothing! It says acme 2260. And up top it says 1960... I dont know if thats the date or not. Can anyone help me?
