Looks like the lower ramrod thimble off a muzzleloading firearm. Do an image search for "ramrod thimble" to see similar examples.3 1/2 inches long. Hollow. Could be. The farm is colonial.. my finds date from the 1700s all the way up to modern day.It could easily be 18th century of War of 1812 period. Nice find.
