Since we cant physicall handle it, it would be difficult to look for any possible markings, to id it by. You may try doing serches online such as: ( I would try searching images 1st)

Bayonets
Vietnam Bayonets
WWII Bayonets
WWI Bayonets
Old War Bayonets

:headbang: Congrats on find, a dump you say? What zip code?

Hi,
I answered on what is it, but some might not see it there, here is what I think it is...

Hi,
I think you will find out it is a lock ring bayonet for a M91 Mosin-Nagant Russian service rifle. The longer M91 rifles served in WW1 until the more modern M91-30 came out, they had a different locking mechanism to them. Some were marked, some just numbered, some had nothing on them. And during the early part of WW1 both Westinghouse and Remington made the m91 rifles on contract for the Russians till the revolution, then cancelled the contracts leaving these companies with tens of thousands of rifles they could not sell.... and just like today, the U.S. government ended up buying the mosin rifles from both makers to avert them going into bankruptcy.. That would account for the usa on the shank marking, if I read the diagram right. these were issued to national guard troops as well as cadets, and the Americans that served in Archangel, Russia were issued these as well..

I think it is a bayonette for a moisin nagant m44 rifle . made in russia, the stampings are probably import numbers.

Hi,
It's not for a M44, they had the bayonet permanantly attatched using a bolt.
The sliding ring on the barrel part would be for a M91 rifle, the 91-30's had push button locking mechanisms.
Definately for a M91.
Thanks!
